Do you know those moments after a big fight or crisis,
when the person who disappointed you starts treating you like nothing ever happened?
Those moments when you thought the world had learned something about you —
understood that it must change its ways toward you —
only to realize it was all just a performance.
Everything suddenly feels like someone is telling you
exactly what you want to hear
just so you’ll stop being an obstacle in their life.
My true longing is for a day when we no longer pretend.
When we’ll stand face to face and say clearly:
You are an obstacle.
An obstacle because you exist,
and your existence is tied to mine.
And sometimes, I wish you didn’t exist —
not that you would cease to exist,
but that you had never existed in the first place.
That I could erase your memory.
And so, I wish to erase my life,
because my life is not a life without you.
The internal fracture is greater than hope.
And I don’t believe it can be bridged —
not by rational means.
